The medical journey is a marathon, but it was never meant to be run alone. It is a path best traveled alongside a community that truly understands both the relentless professional grind and the deep cultural roots that shape who you are.
VPNNC was born out of this vision. Founded by Dr. Michael Quach, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist in San Jose, founder of Willow Glen Psychiatry For Men, and the past president of the Vietnamese Physician Association of Northern California (VPANC), the network bridges the gap between professional excellence and genuine human connection. After years of leading formal medical societies, Dr. Quach recognized a vital need for something different: a dynamic, modern space built entirely around organic networking, vibrant social connections, and true community building.
Northern California is home to an extraordinary wealth of Vietnamese medical talent. VPNNC is here to bring that brilliance together; whether in a formal room or around a dinner table; fostering deep mentorships, professional synergy, and friendships that last a lifetime.
To cultivate a thriving, inclusive network of Vietnamese physicians in Northern California that balances professional advancement with authentic social connection, mutual support, and a celebration of our shared cultural heritage.

Dr. Quach’s journey in medicine began at the University of California, Davis, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. He went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine from the Stanford University School of Medicine, where he also completed his psychiatric residency and served as Chief Resident at Stanford Hospital and Clinics. His exceptional dedication to compassionate, patient-centered care was formally recognized during his training with the prestigious George Gulevich Humanistic Medicine Award.
Reaching beyond private practice, Dr. Quach has contributed to shaping the next generation of physicians since 2008 as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University.
A champion for public health and robust clinical oversight, Dr. Quach serves as the Behavioral Health Medical Director for the Sonoma County Department of Health Services. His leadership extends deeply into the regional medical community; having recently completed an impactful tenure at the helm of the Physician Association of Northern California, he founded this network to focus squarely on the transformative power of physician mentorship, peer advocacy, and social connection.
Dr. Quach is also an accomplished author of clinical memoirs and professional guides; including Your Years Will Teach You What Your Days Do Not Know, The Concrete Mirror, and The Observer; which explore clinical wisdom, resilience, and professional performance.
When he isn’t shaping health policy, teaching, or organizing the next regional medical gathering, Dr. Quach is an avid traveler (with a particular love for the Hawaiian Islands) and a passionate nature photographer. Closer to home, he treasures hosting lively, multi-generational family banquets and festive gatherings.
